Horizontal cylinder Climax S/N 81, built for Smith, Gover & Duncan. Only a few of this style Climax were constructed, but it was an intermediate step between the Class A and the yet to be developed Class B with the inclined cylinders. This style locomotive used a two-speed gearing, similar to that used on the Class A locomotives. The design was not successful as it required too many moving parts that were subject to failure.
