Picryl has PUBLIC DOMAIN pictures of many subjects, including Climax photos and stories of the past. Most of these images are from the Clark Kinsey Collection at the University of Washington. All of the copyrights have expired. I am including some of these here for anyone who would like to collect a personal collection for themselves. The lower resolution ones are open for download, while the higher resolution ones are available for a reasonable charge. The website is;

Climax Builder No. 1535 of the Preston Mill Co. This is a 70 ton Class C engine built in March 1919.

Climax Number 4 of the Susquehana & Eagles Mere RR. This is Builder No. 596. These folks operated many Climax locomotives out of Masten, Pa.

Bowman Lumber Company #1. This Climax Builder No. is a unknown s/n, know as X27. The V & C RR on the tender is Vowinckel & Crown Railroad. The image is from Scientific American, 1896.

Climax of the Canungra Pine Creek Tramway RR, Australia. Climax Builder No. Unknown but goes by X47. Photo from the State Library of Queensland. Locomotive is a 17 ton 42 inch gauge.

Climax Builder No. 1535 of the Preston Mill Co. in 1926 This is a 70 ton Class C engine built in March 1919. This locomotive is mistakenly noted by Picryl and the MSCUA University of Washington, as being a High Point Mill Company locomotive. Preston Mill and High Point are only a few miles apart so an easy mistake.

This picture interests me as the little girl on the front looks to be about 2 years old. Today, if she was still alive, she would be 104 years old.

Another Coats-Fordney Lumber Company Climax at camp in Aberdeen, Washington. This Climax Build No. is unknown as it can be one of several engine numbers, either 564, 768, X347 or 548. Original photo from Clark Kinsey
